This pack is the fourth in Lincoln Goines’ seven part series Working With the Language of Rhythm: Afro-Cuban and Brazilian Groove Concepts for Bass. This pack teaches you three new Afro-Cuban rhythms: the Cha-Cha, the Slap Tumbao, and the Mozambique. Lesson seven also includes an important independence exercise that will help you solidify your understanding of the clave and the tumbao. In Practice Mode, the examples can be slowed down until they are at a comfortable speed and then, as you become familiar with these grooves, sped back up again to Lincoln’s tempo and beyond! Also, be sure to turn off the bass and use the play-along tracks to improvise and write lines of your own.

Check out the rest of Lincoln’s series that takes you from the very basics of Afro-Cuban bass playing in Packs 1 and 2, all the way through advanced odd meter synthetic claves in Pack 7.
